The story behind the PTiYP app​

I've been taking photos for over 50 years, and teaching photography since 2017. Some time ago one of my clients said "I wish I could have you standing next to me all the time while I'm out with the camera, telling me what settings to use." and that got me thinking.

What if this was actually possible? I can't always be there in person of course, but if I could provide a similar level of support in another way, it could be very helpful for people who are learning how to use a camera for the first time. And so 'Photography Tutor in Your Pocket' was born.

The aim of the app app is not to be an exhaustive photography course in its own right, which covers every subject in minute technical detail. In fact it's designed to be used alongside any other sources of tuition you may have come across. But it bridges the gap between the information you might read online at home, and knowing which buttons to press, and what settings to use for different types of images, when you're actually out 'in the field' - often literally! It also contains links to longer tuition documents on my website, to give added context to the advice in the app itself.

You can download it now from the Google Playstore - and please do leave a review if you like it. But if you find any problems with it, please email me to tell me, so I can get it fixed in the next version. We're also working on the iPhone version right now.​
