An amazing reaction to Unexpected:MK!

As the dust settles on what has been a whirlwind few weeks, I'm just starting to take stock of everything that's happened - and I thought you might like to hear some of the lovely comments that the book has received.

As many people are aware, some of my images of MK featured on BBC Breakfast yesterday morning - which was quite something - and there was also a piece on the book in the ITV Anglia programme about Milton Keynes' 50th birthday. Beyond this, over the last few days I've also been interviewed by BBC Three Counties Radio, MKFM and BBC Radio Northampton!

So anyway . . . here are a few comments from all of the various activity around Unexpected:MK and MK's 50th birthday. From the media, from some of my lovely sponsors, from customers who have bought the book - and also from my landscape photography hero Charlie Waite, whose idea this whole project originally was . . .

“Beautiful Pictures.”

Dan Walker, BBC Breakfast

“Gill's photographs are lovely, just beautiful."

Becky Jago, ITV Anglia

“An amazing book, well done.”

Roberto Perrone, BBC Three Counties Radio

“This book is quite spectacular, I urge you to get a copy. Gill is an extraordinary photographer.”

Nancy Stevens, MKFM

“A beautiful book – really, really lovely.”

Bernie Keith, BBC Radio Northampton

“Absolutely fantastic. 10 out of 10, I cannot fault it - I’m very proud of you. Bravo!”

Charlie Waite

“Having seen the breadth and quality of Gill’s Photographic work, I think it is appropriate that she is the curator and custodian of this important piece of history.” Steven Gordon-Wilson - CEO, DestinationMK

“Gill’s photography is first-class – this book is going to be part of the enduring legacy of the MK50 celebrations.” Carl Meale – General Manager, Xscape

“Gill’s photos are stunning, capturing a moment in time before MK moves into its next 50 years of growth.” Lucy Bedford – Arts Officer, Milton Keynes Council

“Super book. Well done.” Phillip Smith – CEO, MK Business Leaders Partnership

I've also received some really lovely comments from people who have bought the book and are now following me on social media:

“A well-deserved stack of recognition for a superb book Gill. There is one spin-off from Unexpected:MK that I expect you have noticed on Twitter and Facebook. ....a lot more of us MK residents are sharing great photos of this wonderful place we call home.... which is brilliant to see. I think your efforts have a lot to do with this....”

“Your book is fabulous! It has given me as an amateur photographer inspiration to go out, look & create photographs of our wonderful home!!!”

“As such a diverse and amazing place to live it's so wonderful to capture it's beauty. Gill, you have done us proud and inspired many with your wonderful book.”

Thank you everyone, it so great to hear that the book is inspiring others to get out with their cameras in Milton Keynes, and to share images of our fabulous city!
