I’ve been so bad at updating this blog recently, but as always, my excuse is that I’ve been busy – and travelling quite a bit too, with trips to Norway and France! I’ve also been working hard to continue to grow my photography business now that the Unexpected:MK photography book project is complete.
One aspect of my career which I’ve been enjoying very much is commercial photography, working to a detailed brief from a company or organisation, to create images for a specific purpose. This really focuses the mind as a photographer, when you have a scheduled date and time and you have to produce exactly what is required within a tight timescale. No room for error!
One particularly fun project involved a full day shoot with the brilliant Milton Keynes Museum, for their new Museum Guide – resulting in 250 images being shot, processed, edited and supplied – all within 48 hours. Quite an achievement even if I do say so myself, and this is what their agency westfourstreet had to say about my efforts:
"We hired the services of Gill based on two crucial factors. Her reputation for outstanding photography and the clearly evident quality of work. Gill is a true professional and great fun to work with. She's open to creative collaboration and her technical knowledge behind the lens combined with an outstanding creative flair sets her apart from so many others. Highly recommended."
Hot on the heels of the museum project, I was asked to create a set of fashion images for Intu Milton Keynes, so support a Spring Fashion social media campaign.
This led to a fun afternoon at various locations around central Milton Keynes, taking photographs of two excellent models, Joe and Yasmin, in different outfits from Intu retailers. Again, this was a fast turnaround project, and I was delighted to get this lovely review from their PR agency Perception PR on Google:
“Professional, creative and a joy to work with. Gill isn't afraid to get her hands dirty to find the perfect shot, which is what we love about a photographer. Full of ideas, happy to manage a shoot and quick delivery of edited imagery. We would thoroughly recommend her.”
